The Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) have agreed to join their hands to raise issues of mutual concern.
The meeting between senior business leaders including FNCCI president Chandi Raj Dhakal and CNI president Binod Chaudhary on Wednesday, reached an understanding to work together as per joint strategy.
According to a press release issued by FNCCI, the business leaders have agreed to cooperate with each other on issues such as Terai unrest, irregular electricity supply and its impact on business sector, industrial labour disputes and the government decision to cancel passports of 80 businessmen for defaulting bank loan repayment.
If the major problems of industrial sector are not resolved, the economy will be affected and, ultimately, the private sector will collapse, stated the FNCCI press release.
The release also stated that the two associations had expected better days for the private sector and economy after the historical Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), Interim Legislature/Parliament and Interim Constitution, which could not materialize.
