PM forms committees to appoint vice-chancellors

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Friday has formed four committees for the appointment of vice-chancellors in the four universities.

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, as the chancellor of the universities, has formed four separate recommendation committees – all headed by Education Minister Pradeep Nepal – to suggest VCs for four big universities.

As per the decision, the recommendation committee for Tribhuwan University (TU) has acting Education Secretary Balananda Poudel and Bhola Pokharel as members while that for Pokhara University has Poudel and former VC of TU Dr. Kamal Krishna Joshi.

The panel for Purbanchal University includes Poudel and Dr. Bimal Koirala while the one for Nepal Sanskrit University (NSU) has Poudel and finance secretary Bidyadhar Mallik.
The key posts of all major universities have remained vacant for 11 months.
