The government has decided to release Rs 50 million as immediate relief to the victims of landslides and floods.
Emergency cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence on Sunday afternoon took the decision, expressing serious concern over the loss of lives and properties.
After the meeting, Communications Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who is also the spokesperson of government, said the government has also issued a public appeal to all national as well as international donors to help tackle the humanitarian crises.
According to Mahara, 59 people have died so far according to the information received by the government.
Mahara also informed that the ministers have decided to contribute seven percent of their monthly salary to the government relief fund.
