Gandak hydro closed for five days

Power has been cut in Gandak hydropower for last five days as the government and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) remained apathetic to the demands of local people. The locals of Suryapura had opened the radial gate of Gandak canal protesting against India for not cleaning the siphon causing the lack of water.

Stating that local administration was reluctant on their demands, the locals have protested. Due to the power cut, the project is facing a daily loss worth Rs 1.1 million. The project had been generating 160,000 units daily.
