Though the Kathmandu metropolitan city started to collect the garbage from today morning, 20 trucks carrying the garbage have been stranded at Sisdol after the residents of Okharpauwa of Nuwakot district barred them to enter in the landfill site area.

The Municipality had started to collect the garbage from this morning following an agreement among municipality representatives, Sisdol locals ad contractors.

Rabin Man Shrestha, chief of environment department of metropolitan city said the garbage was yet to be disposed due to the disputes between the contractors and cadres of Young Communist League (YCL) of that area.

He also said they have requested both of the parties to conclude the disputes and municipality could take part in solving the disputes only as mediator.

The Kathmandu municipality had halted the collection of garbage 10 days back stating that the local contractor of the landfill site obstructed the garbage disposal.

The disputes ensued as YCL activists beat up local contractors Ram Kumar Ghimire and Shiva Thapa preventing them from filing a tender for the construction of one kilometer long road near landfill site area.

Local Ministry, and Center for Garbage and Resource Mobilization had issued tender notice to construct the road.

The capital city has been polluted as the piles of the garbage have been emitting the odor. About four thousands metric tons of garbage is yet to be collected in the city.
