PM appoints Giriraj Mani Pokhrel as Health Minister

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Sunday appointed Giriraj Mani Pokhrel of Jana Morcha Nepal as the Minister of Health and population of the present interim government.

Pokhrel was appointed Health Minister as per the article 38 of Interim Constitution of Nepal.

The PM administered the oath of office and secrecy to Pokhrel this afternoon at the meeting hall of the Planning Commission inside Singha Durbar.

The appointment is as per the portfolio promised to Jana Morcha during the formation of the 22-member interim cabinet formed on April 5.

Jana Morcha Nepal had recommended the names of party vice-chairman Pokhrel and central member Shashi Shrestha for the posts of Minister for Health and Population and state minister for the same portfolio, respectively, in the interim government.
