The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Tuesday grilled Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Bijaya Nath Bhattarai, on charge of unlawful transactions during the royal regime to suppress Jana Andolan-II.
Bhattarai attended before the CIAA immediately after receiving the summon notice issued on Tuesday. The notice had directed him to attend the anti-corruption body within seven days. The CIAA investigating officer questioned him on the basis of the report prepared by Rayamajhi commission.
The Rayamajhi Commission in its report has implicated him, along with dozens of royal functionaries, in financial irregularities to suppress last year’s mass uprising. Acting on the probe report, the anti-corruption body has already interrogated the vice-chairmen duo of the royal regime, Dr Tulsi Giri and Kirti Nidhi Bista, then ministers and former Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Pyar Jung Thapa on misuse of state funds.
