Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has said he wanted Constituent Assembly (CA) elections be held within mid-April, 2008. PM Koirala said this in a meeting with the former US president Jimmy Carter on Thursday.
According to PM's foreign affairs, during their meeting on Thursday morning, Koirala told Carter that his priority was to hold the twice-deferred election at the earliest.
During the meeting, the former US President expressed hope that the CA election would be held within mid-April next year.
He also showed deep concern over failure of the parties to the comprehensive peace agreement to adhere to the accord.
Carter is also scheduled to hold discussions with representatives of the civil society and marginalised groups besides political leaders.
