Police on Wednesday have seized around three quintal hashish from an Indian plate vehicle in Rupandehi. The traffic police have seized the huge amount of narcotics while trying to stop an Indian plate vehicle in the highway which had defied the order of the police and later captured in Parroha VDC-1, Ranyoura, at Lumbini road about two and half kilometers south of the highway.
Police came to know that the vehicle was carrying some suspicious material while an Indian plate vehicle, UP 33 B 9293 smashed with the vehicle of Assistant Police Inspector Pushkar Karki in Highway Chauraha in Butwal. The over speeded vehicle ran away while API Karki ordered to stop it. API Karki said the vehicle was chased and captured in a place about two and half kilometers south of Murgauiya when it failed to overtake the tractor in the highway.
According to Karki the jeep was carrying four persons including the driver who fled away. All the passengers of the vehicles are said to be Indians.
Regional Traffic Police Office Butwal later came to know the vehicle was carrying hashish when they checked and found 524 packets weighing 263 Kgs which were kept under the seat and the roof of the jeep.
According to police, the price of the hashish is around 2.1 million rupees in the Nepalese market. “The hashish was brought from the hilly areas of Nepal was being smuggled to India”, said Pawan Kumar Giri, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Regional Police Office, Butwal.
Police is furthewr investigating and trying to find the culprits, said Sukdev Neupane, DSP of Area Police Office Butwal.
