Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat on Thursday urged members of the Legislature Parliament to support the government to strike a deal on the 750-MW West Seti Hydro Electricity Project.
The government is in its final stage to ink an agreement with the Snowy Mountain Engineering Corporation (SMEC), an Australian multi-national company.

"It needs encouragement to go ahead. It is gong to spread a new message all over the world," he said.
The issue on whether to demand 10 per cent of energy or equivalent cash from the project developer has has been a debate for long.
Mahat said, "When the debate over the project started we thought there was surplus power and it would be wise to demand money equivalent to 10 per cent power produced; but in the changed context when we are facing power shortage, it is not logical to ask for money."
State Minister for Water Resources Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said the door to mutual understanding regarding the project has not closed yet and sought constructive suggestions from all.
