Martin, Moriarty held meeting with PM

Ian Martin, Chief of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) and James F. Moriarty, American Ambassador to Nepal have separately met with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Friday.

During the meeting, UNMIN Chief Martin discussed the issues like arms registration, and Constituent Assembly elections with the PM.

Reports quote PM’s advisor for foreign affairs Dr Suresh Chalise as saying that Martin had told the PM that Constituent Assembly (CA) elections would not be possible by June 20 due to various political and technical reasons.

Meanwhile, American ambassador James F. Moriarty also met with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Friday morning.

Reports say he discussed a range of political issues including the Constituent Assembly elections with the PM.

He is learnt to have told Koirala to resolve issues of Madhes and other communities before announcing the date for CA polls.
