Chief of the United Missions in Nepal (UNMIN) Ian Martin gas stressed on an agreement among the political parties to ensure that the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls takes place in the country.

Speaking at a press conference in the capital city today after his return from the meeting of the UN Security Council, Martin said the UN was committed to assist the peace process in Nepal.

Martin also expressed UN support to the implementation of the peace process and agreements reached.|

Meanwhile he also said the UN would assist a discussion on the future of the country’s security sector, including a managed transition from the current temporary Maoists cantonments and restriction to barracks of the Nepal Army to long-term solutions.

“You have the assurance of the Secretary-General and, I believe, the openness of the Security Council to extend the assistance requested,” said Martin.
