In a bid to support a four-year programme on management and leadership training for mountain development of four countries, an International Conference on Experiences with and the Prospects for Regional Exchange and Cooperation in Mountain Areas kicked off in Nepal's capital city Kathmandu today.
The four day long conference organized by InWEnt, Capacity Building International Germany, acting on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and ICIMOD, supported by the National Planning Commission Nepal will discuss the vital issues of neighborly and regional cooperation for sustainable development in a changing socio-political and economic environment.
The four-year programme includes International Leadership Training (ILT), national training programmes, study tours and regional conferences. The international conference on regional exchange and cooperation in the Himalaya-Hindukush-Pamir is organized to further enhance the aim of bridging the gaps between academia, decision-making and development practice.
The programme is a part of a continuous process which started with a series of conferences highlighting different aspects of mountain development. The participating countries include Nepal, Pakistan, Tajikistan and PR of China.
