Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ' Prachanda' on Tuesday said that India has agreed to review the 1950 Nepal-India Treaty.
Talking to Indian journalist at a press conference at Hotel Taj in New Delhi, PM 'Prachanda' said that the 1950 treaty was signed during special circumstances and both the countries have agreed that time has come to review many aspects of the treaty. He said that an agreement had been reached to form a joint task force which will review the 1950 Treaty.
PM 'Prachand' said that the Koshi flood relief and resettlement of the displaced in Sunsari district, extension of the railway service in the Terai, issues related to trade and transit, border dispute, hydro-electric sector and other issues of mutual interest were discussed with the Indian leaders.
Terming his India visit "fruitful", PM 'Prachanda' said that his meeting with Dr Man Mohan Singh has pushed the relation between the two countries to a new height ending suspicions.
PM 'Prachanda' also held separate meetings with Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral, leftist ministers Prakash Karat and Sitaram Yechuri on Tuesday.
PM 'Prachanda', who is in five-day official visit to India with a 50-member Nepali delegation, is schedule to visit Bangalore on Wednesday.
