Indian Ambassador to Nepal Shiva Shanker Mukherjee on Monday said that India was going to triple the existing Indian assistance to Nepal.
The assistance will be invested in education, infrastructure and health sectors.
Inaugurating a school built with Indian assistance in Nepalgunj, Mukherjee said that the increase in assistance had begun since last June's meeting between the two countries' Prime Ministers.
The Indian envoy opined that it was time for Nepali people to decide their own future. Stating that the road to development is long and difficult, the envoy said the Indian government was willing to move side-by –side with Nepal.
"India began assisting Nepal ever since it gained independence and till now it has extended assistance to all 75 districts," Mukharjee said.
The Pashupati Skishya Mandir, Mukherjee inaugurated was built out of around Rs. 2.8 million assistance from the Indian government and Rs. 0.4 million from Banke district administration.
