Nepal has bagged the New Travel Routes Contest 2007 award at International Travel Expo (ITE) Hong Kong that was held from 14 to 17 June.
A press release issued by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) on Sunday said that the contest was conducted through the visitors' survey of the trade, media and consumers that attended the exhibition.
“The award is a testament to the new confidence in the destination which is also reflected in the tourist arrival numbers in 2007,” the NTB release said.
Nepal participated in the exhibition to promote Nepal in the Chinese market and was focused on the theme of the New Tourism Brand: Unleash Yourself. NATURALLY NEPAL - ONCE IS NOT ENOUGH; and VISIT POKHARA YEAR 2007 campaign.
During the exhibition, Nepali tourism officials felicitated Everest summitters from Hong Kong, Louise Bowen and Chung Man Kin.
NTB and three other private sector companies-Asian Trekking, Amadablam Adventure and Dharma Adventure participated in the expo.
