The Japanese government has extended a grant assistance of Rs 234,400,000 (approximately US $3,714,00) to Nepal for food aid. The agreement of the grant was signed by Vidyadhar Mallik, secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Japanese ambassador to Nepal, Tatsuo Mizuno in Kathmandu Monday.
Issuing press statement, Japanese Embassy said the grant assistance is to enable the Nepalese government to procure rice and supply it within the country. Similarly, the Nepal Food Corporation will deliver the food assistance to the needy population living in the food deficit areas of the country.
The food aid is one of the oldest schemes of the Japanese government to Nepal, said the release.
