The government of Japan has extended a grant assistance up to 847,000,000 Yen equivalent to Rs.452,298,000 to Nepal for the Construction of New Kawasoti Sub-station.
This assistance is a part of Japan’s Fiscal Year 2007. The support intend to procure the products and services necessary for the construction of New Kawasoti sub-station in order to provide a reliable and quality electricity supply in the eastern part of Nawalparasi District. The construction of the sub station is expected to result in meeting the increasing electricity demand and reduce the system loss in the target area.
Japanese ambassador to Nepal Tsutomu Hiraoka and secretary of the Ministry of Finance Vidyadhar Mallik signed and exchanged contract paper on behalf of their respective governments in this regard.
Speaking on the occasion, ambassador Hiraoka said a total population of 190,000 in eastern Nawalparasi District would be directly benefited from the new Kawasoti sub-station. He expected that the project would help promote industries in the area and consequently enhance the living standard of the people living in the area, bringing forth alleviation of poverty and economic disparity.
Under this Grant, a new 132/33/11kV Kawasoti sub-station will be constructed to loop in with the existing Bardaghat – Bharatpur 132kV transmission grid, isolate the existing Bharatpur – Kawasori 33kV transmission line and connect the distribution system to the New Kawasoti sub-station enhancing the reliability of the distribution system, the press release issued by the Japanese embassy said.
