Japan hails formation of interim govt.

Japan, Nepal's close friend and a major donor, has welcomed the formation of interim government.

Issuing a statement, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan on Monday has said," Japan welcomes the establishment of an interim government in Nepal. Including the announcement of the schedule of an election for the constituent assembly, Japan considers these steps as establishing an important foundation for the peace process in Nepal. "

Japan hopes that the interim government will proceed with preparations for the election as soon as possible and that the election will be carried out freely and fairly, the statement read.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has further said Japan intends to continue assistance, in cooperation with the international community, to the government of Nepal's effort for the promotion of democracy and peace building.
