Japan grants for the establishment of safe motherhood center

The government of Japan has extended financial grant of US Dollars 85,039 equivalent to approximately Rs. 5,387,000 to Asian Mama Nepal for the establishment of safe motherhood center in Roopnagar of Saptari district.

The assistance was granted under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme of the Government of Japan in fiscal year 2007. 

Ambassador of Japan to Nepal Tatsuo Mizuno and president of Asian Mama Nepal Kunnam Pokharel signed and exchanged contract letter to this end today. 

The Grant will be utilized for the construction of a hospital building for the safe motherhood center. The cost includes procurement of medical equipments including an incinerator and generator, and an ambulance, said a press release issued by Japanese embassy. 

Out of the total project cost of approximately 7.8 million Nepalese Rupees, Asian Mama Nepal will bear around 31 percent.
