Bandh affects normal life in Terai

The banda (shut down) organized by Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM), Jwala Singh faction has affected normal life in eastern Terai and central Terai on Monday. Major market places, business enterprises and schools have been closed in Morang, Siraha, Saptari, Dhanusha and Mahottari adistricts.

Similarly, highways and other roads of the districts remained deserted. Passengers traveling to longer distances have been stranded at various places as buses are off the road due to fear of attack by Jwala Singh's group.

The JTMM (Jwala Singh) called the bandh calling it a 'public holiday' to mark the 'liberation' of Terai. Though banda organizers allowed the operation of the ongoing SLC examinations, students had to walk hours to reach their exam centers.
