Famine hits Kalikot people hard

Famine has hit people of Kalikot district hard as there was no rice supply to the people.

RSS has reported that  nearly one thousand people have been directly affected from famine for the last ten months in the nearby places of Palata such as Thin, Dhaulagaha, Ramanhakot, Thirpu and Narikot of Kalikot district.

Citing the information provided by Thirpu Depot Kalikot, the report said the rice which had been distributed by the government for the fiscal year 2062/63 BS from the Thirpu Depot was not supplied with more quotas, hence the famine broke out.

The victims are bound to live on gruel.  The administration has ignored, even though a team of nearly 170 people had frequently informed the District Administration Office, Kalikot, the locals said.
