Maoists have called off the indefinite bandh they have imposed in Kapilvastu district since Saturday.
After a meeting with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala in Sunday morning, the Maoist leadership has agreed to do so.
After their meeting, minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ram Chandra Poudel said the Maoists have agreed to call off the bandh.
Maoists had imposed an indefinite bandh in Kapilvastu since Saturday demanding removal of a Nepal Army base established in 2004 at Kudarbetwa in Birpur VDC of the district.
Labeling Sunday’s talks with the Prime Minister as positive, Maoist leader Dr Bhattarai said they have agreed to call off the strike.
During the meeting, the PM had raised serious concerns about the bandh.
