A meeting of task force formed under Parliamentary Special Hearing Committee (PSHC) to look into the complaints filed against Kedar Prasad Giri ended inconclusively on Thursday. PSHC had publicly called for complaints against Giri who was recommended to be appointed as the new chief justice by constitutional council as CJ Anup Raj Paudel's tenure completed on Thursday.
The meeting of the task force is slated for Sunday morning. PSHC had formed 9 member task force to handle the complaints file against Giri. Some of the complaints are reportedly said to be of serous kinds. Over a dozen complaints have been filed against Giri at the parliamentary hearing committee.
According to the constitutional provisions, the prime minister appoints the chief justice upon approval from the parliamentary committee.
