The electricity supply has resumed in Lamjung- based 4-MW Khudi hydropower project after a power cut for four weeks. During the period of power cut, the projected bore loss worth around Rs. 7.5 million.
Resident engineer of the project Ram Raj Sharma said the electricity supply resumed after the workers finished taking out the sandstones and cleansing the intake. The Electricity was cut since September 9 after flood entered inside the intake of the project.
At least 30 workers were involved in clearing the intake daily. Due to the obstruction in power supply, the project had been facing daily loss of more than three hundred thousand rupees.
The people of Lamjung, Tanahun and Gorkha districts had been facing load shedding due to the power cut. The load shedding would be recovered soon, said engineer Sharma. The Khudi Hydropower Project has been built on the Khudi River of Lamjung district.
The Khudi Hydropower Project was first identified as a possible project for hydropower development in a study conducted by Nepal Electricity Authority(NEA) and GTZ - Germany in 1993. The project had started to supply electricity since September 30, 2006.
