The government on Monday has formed a five-member committee led by Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula to nationalise the property of late King Birendra.
A meeting of council of minister held at the official residence of Prime Minister Giraja Prasad Koiral at Baluwatar has inducted the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation, Minister for Physical Planning and Works and Minister for Law, Justice and the Parliamentary Affairs as the members of the committee to complete its task of nationalising the King’s property and set up a trust to take care of the property.
After the cabinet meeitng, Minister for Health and Population Giriraj Mani Pokhrel told journalists that the cabinet has asked the committee fulfill the responsibility within 15 days.
Last year, a proclamation of then House of Representatives had directed the government to nationalize the property of the late King Birendra.
Likewise, the cabinet meeting has also decided to withdraw cases against 59 top Maoist central leaders including Prachanda and Baburam Bhattarai.
