Denmark and the government of the Republic of Korea have provided the supports to facilitate ongoing peace process in Nepal. Issuing separate press releases on Wednesday both of the government assured the assistance.
Issuing to a press release, Danish Embassy in Kathmandu said that the Board of the Danish International Development Assistance (DANIDA) approved the grant assistance of Rs. 600 million to Nepal. Finn Thilsted, Danish ambassador approved the Danish Peace Support Grant to Nepal.
“Acknowledging the challenging but positive situation in Nepal, the Board of DANIDA found it highly relevant, that Denmark over the next years provides support to a broad range of stakeholders working for peace in Nepal, as a natural consequence of Denmark’s longstanding support to the country’s democratic forces,” said the release.
Similarly, the government of the Republic of Korea also announced support of IT equipments equivalent to Rs. 10.6 million to Nepal through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to contribute in peace process.
A press release issued by the Korean Embassy said, Korean Ambassador to Nepal Nam Sang-Jung today handed over 95 multi-function laser printers and 57 portable hard disks worth Rs. 3.6 million to the Election Commission.
According to the release, The Korean government is also planning to provide computer equipment worth Rs. 7 million to Nepal police through the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The release further stated five military officers of the Korean Army would be dispatched to Nepal early April as UN Arms Management Observers.
"The Korean government will continue to support Nepal not only for economic cooperation but also for peace building, and thus contribute to the latter's national development" said the release.
