The government has forwarded the draft of the labor pact to South Korea to send Nepali workers through Employment Permit System (EPS).
The Korean government had submitted the final draft of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to the Nepal government last week, seeking necessary inputs from Nepal before sealing the final agreement. Korean government will invite Nepal after reviewing the amendments sought by Nepal.
Agreeing on the most of the conditions set by the South Korean government, Nepal has requested more flexibility on conditions such as termination of the MoU in case Nepali nationals overstay or commit other minor mistakes. The government has also sought clarification on South Korea's proposal to deploy its officials here to monitor and advice on activities related to Korean employment.
EPS is expected to generate more opportunities for Nepali workers in South Korea.
According to an informal estimate, 5 thousand to 6 thousand Nepali nationals are in Korea and most of them are illegally staying there. South Korea has been providing works to the Nepali national as the trainee so far.
