Nepal and South Korea have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for Employment Permit System (EPS) on Monday in Seoul.
According to the reports, Ramesh Lekhak, minister of state for labour and transport management and Lee Sang-Soo, Korean minister of labour affairs, signed the labour pact.
Speaking on the occasion, Korean labour affairs minister Soo said that the agreement would help strengthen the bilateral relation between the two countries.
Similarly, Minister Lekhak also expressed Nepal government's commitments to implement the MoU effectively.
The reports said that under new provision of the pact, Nepal government would make all necessary arrangements such as Korean language training and proper selection of workers before sending them to Korea. The expenditure that Nepali workers need to make prior to flying to Korea for job would be determined on consensus.
After this labour pact, Nepal will be able to send around 5,000 Nepali workers every year to Korea under EPS.
Similar agreement on foreign employment was signed on July 23, 2007 with United Arab Emirates.
