A day after unification of Nepali Congress (NC) and NC (D), its founding leader Krishna Prasad Bhattara broke off ties with the party.
In a two-page long letter addressed to the NC president and NC party leaders, he said that that the party was forgetting (founders) BP Koirala and Ganesh Man Singh in the name of federal democratic republic.
Bhattarai said that the NC leaders were involved in a meaningless exercise to adopt federal democratic republic line. He also said that republican agenda was not acceptable to him and that he would have no relations or contact with the party from now on.
“ I won’t have any connection or relationship with this party,” he further said.
Bhattarai yesterday had termed the unification of the NC and NC-D " a dream come true " to him. The unified NC had also offered him the post of the party’s second-in-command.
The ongoing NC Mahasamiti meeting is expected to endorse a proposal for a federal democratic republic—breaking away from the policy of constitutional monarchy.
