Home Minister Krishna Sitaula has warned of taking action against the assailants who attacked Chief District Office of Dolakha district without paying heed to the political affiliation of the assailants.
Minister Sitaula said that the government would take action to the assailants neglecting their political affiliation. Speaking in the meeting of Interim Legislature Parliament on Monday, Minister Sitaula said that he has taken the matter seriously.
He also informed that 32 individuals have been arrested in connection to the attack to Dolakha CDO.
Hundreds of Maoists cadres on Sunday barged into the Dolakha District Administration Office (DAO) and beat up CDO Uddhav Bahadur Thapa, in a bid to force the district administration to withdraw a case against a local Maoist leader.
The Dolakha district administration had filed a case against one Bishal Khadka, member of the Maoists’ 'district intellectuals’ committee' under the Public Offence Act for smearing black soot to the former District Development Committee chairman Sundar Prakash Khadka a few days back.
Protesting the atrocities, all employees under the Home Ministry halted their work on Monday. The government employees in all the 75 district administration offices across the country announced a ‘pen down’ on Monday.
The lawmakers, speaking in the house, strongly denounced the attack on the CDO and asked the government to initiate action against the Maoist cadres involved in the incident.
Taking an exception to Sunday’s incident, the Home Ministry has informed that it has already directed the local administration to take legal action against the assailants.
The ministry has, however, urged the civil servants not to resort to the strike.
