Lawmakers who spoke in the special session of the interim legislature parliament on Monday have urged the CPN-Maoist to withdrew the motion of adopting fully proportional electoral system for the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections and declaration of republic.

Discussion upon the Maoist's motion began in the special house session from Monday. Filing a motion in the house session, lawmaker Raghuji Panta urged the Maoists to withdraw their proposal. Jhala Nath Khanal of the CPN-UML said that the motion filed by the Maoist was meaningless.

Lawmaker of People's Front Dilliram Acharya accused that the Maoist has betrayed people by demanding the declaration of proportional representative electoral system and republic before the CA polls.

The next round of the meeting of the lawmakers is scheduled for Monday morning.

Nearly after two hours of predetermined schedule, the special session of interim legislature parliament had resumed at 1:55 today. Following the hectic home works of seven political parties, the session resumption was delayed.

The session has been sitting from Monday amidst the unsolved differences between two major allies of Seven Party Alliance (SPA)-Nepali Congress and CPN-Maoist on the electoral system and process of republican order.

CPN Maoist has tabled the motion before parliament demanding the adoption of fully proportional representative electoral system for CA elections and the declaration of republic through the parliament. Nepali Congress has decided to vote against the Maoist motion while UML has opted to be neutral.
