Sundh urges Speaker to formulate laws on disappeared persons

Lena Sundh, chief of the United Nations Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Nepal Friday met with the Speaker of the Interim Legislature Parliament Subash Chandra Nemwang and discussed on the issue of the law regarding making known whereabouts of disappeared persons.

During the meeting, Sundh urged Nemwang to formulate the laws that will end the present culture of impunity in the nation.

Likewise, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) staffers also met Speaker Nemwang Friday to discuss appointment of officials to the vacant positions in the commission.

NHRC employees have intensified meetings with ministers and leaders of political parties.

The UNHCHR representative and NHRC staffers had met Nembang separately at his parliamentary secretariat office today.
