LP gas Industry Association has stopped import of gas from Sunday stating that Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) barred entrepreneurs from importing gas as per the demands.

LP gas importers have said that the government has not increased the quotas of license and due to the limited import quotas, consumers have to face gas shortage frequently.

The association has demanded distribution of import license as per the demand, increase of import fare by 21 percent, and specification of separate import rate for recycling center.

Sawarmal Agrawal, president of the association said stopping import was an obligatory step as the government remained indifferent despite their frequent recalling.

Agrawal said that the NOC was supplying only 75,00 thousand metric tons of gas in the market where as demand is of 10 thousands metric tons per month.

Gas importers have demanded that fare rate of tankers should be increased to adjust already increased price of diesel.
