Chairman of CPN Maoist Prachanda has said there was no institutional hand of his party and people's Liberation Army (PLA) in the murder of civilian Ram Hari Shrestha. Chairman Prachanda has said some selfish elements within the party were involved in Shrestha's killing.
Issuing a press statement today, Prachanda said he was shocked at his death. Stating that he was serious on the matter, Prachanda said his party would carry out investigation on Shrestha's murder and disclose it to the public.
He has also expressed commitment to assist police administration in the investigation stating that he was ready to hold discussions with victim family for compensatory relief.
Prachanda has also called on everyone to be on guard as some elements were trying to give it a political color.
Meanwhile, the protest against the murder continued in Koteshwor today for the third day leading to traffic disruptions in the area. 13 demonstrators and three police personnel are reported to have been injured in the clash.
Shrestha was murdered by Maoist PLA and the fact of his killing was disclosed yesterday.
