At least twenty seven persons have been killed in a clash between the Maoist activists and activists of Madhesi Janaadhikari Forum (MJF) in Gaur of Rautahat district Wednesday afternoon. Three dozen people have been injured in the incident.

A report quoted an eyewitness as saying that both sides opened to firing after a dispute took place about the use of an open space for their mass meetings at Mills Area.

The disputes turned violent when hundreds of rounds of bullets were fired after the MJF activists dismantled the stage erected by the Maoists affiliated Madhesi Rastriya Mukti Morcha stating that their program was scheduled earlier than the Maoist.

The local District Administration Office (DAO) has imposed curfew from 9 am Thursday to contain the tension. The DAO had imposed curfew from 2.45 pm to 4.00 am Thursday in Gaur and its vicinity.
