The government has decided not to hike the rate of transportation fare in the teeth of price hike in the petroleum products. The meeting held between the government official and transport  entrepreneurs at Ministry of Labor and Transport Management took the decision of not increasing the rate until the report of new committee submits the report.

The discussions are going to set new fare price rate. Transport entrepreneurs have proposed the increment of the fares of public transport running on diesel, petrol and gas by 6 percent, 9 percent and 35 percent respectively.

The meeting has also decided to form a new committee headed by director general of the Department of Transport Management to recommend the new rate of fare in scientific manner.  The committee has been
mandated to submit it report to the Ministry within 20 days.

Minister of State for Labour and Transport Management Ramesh Lekhak and Secretary at the Ministry Shyam Mainali were also present at the meeting.

Though the new rate has been decided, the public transportation means such as buses, micro and three wheeler tempo have already imposed higher rates to the passengers.
