Mobile service has started in Mustang district from today for the first time. Entrepreneurs, local businessmen, government employees including apple producers in Jomsoom have expressed happiness following launching of the mobile service.
Mustang is one of the districts lying in far-western division of the country that is enveloped by snow almost for half of the year.
The Mustang-branch of Nepal Telecom (NT) stated that the mobile service under GSM system that has been distributed in Jomsom, headquarters of Mustang, would be operating within five kilometers.
Chief district officer Pradipraj Kandel informed that local residents felicitated employees at the NT office with garlands and shawl for introducing mobile service in the district.
Kandel further said the mobile service would be helpful for the technical preparations of the upcoming constituent assembly polls. "We have never thought that Mustang people would see mobile service", said Kandel speaking over mobile phone.
