The government is going to enact new law regarding private sector's involvement in the import of the petroleum products. The Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Rajendra Mahato informed a delegation on Tuesday in this regard.
Minister Mahato assured a delegation led by the president of Nepal Chambers of Commerce Surendra Bir Malakar that the government would come up with such law as soon as possible.
Issuing a press release, the chamber said Mahato also assured that the government was ready to solve the problems faced by the commercial sector including the compulsory labeling on packs of consumer food product imports.
During the meeting, Malakar had asked the minister to scrap the system of compulsory labeling on food product imports as it was having a negative effect. The delegation also pointed out that the Interim Constitution had clearly outlined rights of laborers but had totally ignored the rights of their employers. Malakar also presented suggestions prepared by the chamber in regard to the three-year interim plan.
Quoting Minister Mahato as saying, the release said the government would consider the chamber's suggestions and learn from the past to make industries, commerce and foreign investment policies timely.
