Co-owner of Momento Apparels appears before RID

Brother of FNCCI president Chandiraj Dhakal and co-owner of Momento Apparels, Tika Ram Dhakal has appeared before the Revenue Investigation Department (RID) to record his statement.

Tika Ram Dhakal had reached RID office at Lalitpur's Pulchowk at around 10 Friday morning.

The judicial body had issued an arrest warrant against FNCCI president and Managing Director of Momento Apparels Chandi Raj Dhakal after he defied a number of summons issued by RID to record a statement on tax evasion charges.

Likewise, RID has issued summon to co-owner Tika Ram Dhakal to record his statement on the charge of tax evasion.

The RID has accused Momento Apparels, the largest garment factory of the country, of cheating Rs 8.6 million in customs duty by producing forged documents at the bonded warehouse.

Staffers of the company on behalf of the FNCCI president Thursday has deposited Rs 8.6 million in cash and three plots of land worth Rs 16.9 million to avoid possible detention on tax evasion charges.

They had also brought land ownership certificates of three plots situated in Jhapa and Chitwan districts to cover the remaining portion of the bail amount totaling Rs 25.5 million.
