Traders decide not to pay tax and interest during banda

Trade and industry entrepreneurs in Morang and Sunsari districts have said that they would not pay taxes and interest of bank loan during bandas and strike.

The Industry Organization Morang (IOM) and the Morang Trade Association (MTA) took this decision organizing gatherings separately on Monday. The entrepreneurs have also decision to go against the tendency of calling bandhs and strikes.

Central member of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) Kishor Pradhan said though industries and trade sectors are closed during bandhs, consumers are forced to pay the charges for electricity, telephone, water and interest on loans to banks.

IOM chairperson Ashok Murarka stressed that entrepreneurs should be exempted from loans to the banks and should not be forced to pay taxes for bands and strikes period.

Entrepreneurs also demanded that those calling bandhs wake up to the losses caused by bandhs and strikes. Morang Trade Association general secretary Abinash Bohara called on those calling bandhs and strikes to look for alternative means of protest.
