Indian has pleaded NRs 36 million to Nepal for social use. Indian embassy in Kathmandu signed two separate Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mustang District Development Committee (DDC) and Muktinath Development Committee in this regard on Friday.
The grant will be used for the construction of a Dharmashala at Muktinath and new library building construction and setting up of books and furniture in Shree Jana Shanti Secondary School, Kagbeni.
Issuing a press release, the embassy said that Mustang is a 'symbol' of age old cultural bonds between India and Nepal, and of significant importance for followers of many religions.
"The new infrastructure to be constructed with the Indian assistance will be managed by the Muktinath Development Committee and have a capacity of 56 beds with separate space for office, reception, meditation hall, kitchen, cafeteria, dining hall, a guard-house and furniture," the embassy press release said.
The projects will be implemented by Mustang DDC and will have separate oversight committees comprising of representatives from the respective beneficiary organizations, DDC and local administration to oversee the projects for their effective and timely implementation.
These projects are among five developmental projects undertaken by the Government of India in the remote northern district. Currently, more than 265 large and small projects are being implemented under the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Program in the sectors of education, health, community development and infrastructure covering all the districts of Nepal with an outlay of over NRs 21 billion.
