Inclusive and decentralized planning underlined

Stressing to the need of inclusive and decentralized pattern in planning, Vice chairperson of National Planning Commission Dr. Jagadish Chandra Pokhrel has said that the existing structure and working style should be changed in the Commission.

Speaking at a program organized on Friday to marks 50 years of the initiation of planned development of National Planning Commission, Dr. Pokhrel said the commission would include wide participatory discussion while formulating the plans as there was an appropriate atmosphere to build national consensus.

Indira Shrestha, member of the Commission suggested that the commission should give emphasis to the appropriate mobilization of the human resources and tools and institutionalized management.

Similarly, another member of the Commission Dr. Chaitanya Mishra opined that proportional development should be stressed to eliminate regional inequality.

National Planning commission had started planned development since 1957 march 1 with first five year plan. The first plan had prioritized project infrastructure development   with total sum of Rs. 330 million.

The commission has aimed to bring the development program at village level to meet average development focusing backwards districts.
