Nepal Association of Tour Operators (NATO) on Tuesday expressed worry over the CPN-Maoist decision to launch a series of protest programs from September.
Issuing a press release NATO said, “The announcement of protests like mass assemblies, people’s action and political strikes will send negative signals to the international markets. This will lead to either cancellation or deferment of trips planned by several tourists during this upcoming peak-tourism season.”
The release also asked all parties to refrain from holding any strike or protest until the constitution assembly election slated for November.
“The election must be held on the announced date at any cost, as this will end political transition and create a new, and enabling atmosphere for the business and economy,” added the release.
Following revival of tourism industry, NATO also requested eight parties to pay serious attention towards the impacts that the newly announced agitation may cause.
With establishment of peace, foreign tourists are showing interest to travel to Nepal. The peace process has also sent the tourist arrivals soaring in the recent months.
