Nepal government has banned export of food stuff. The government's decision comes a month after India among some other countries decided to stop export of food stuff following ballooning price hike in food commodity in international market.
Gyan Darshan Das, chief of the export division at ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply said this decision will be effective till mid November 2008.
Meanwhile, experts have suggested to make provision of effective monitoring to reduce the impact of price hike in the international market. They have also underscored that concentration should be paid to lift the productivity.
Speaking at a programme organized in the capital today, Director of South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics & Environment (SAWTEE) Nabin Dahal said there was need of subsidy to agriculture sector to banish long-term impact of price hike. National Programme manager of UNDP Bishwanath Tiwari opined that technical education should be promoted to increase attraction to agricultural sector.
