Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIBL) organized '1st NIBL Annual Marathon 2007' on Saturday to raise fund of Rs. 2.5 million for the Patan Durbar Heritage Conservation.
In 21 kilometers run competition, Arjun Prasad Dhakal won the match under professional category bagging Rs. 50 thousands while Laxman Malla Thakuri thrashed all under amateur category with Rs. 30 thousand cash prize.
Similarly, Derek Coogan became first under foreigner category with Rs. 15 thousands while Mahendra Man Maharjan, Shiva Kumar Lama and Ravi Raj Thapa won the match under respectively 40-50, 50to 60 and 60 above veteran category. Under financial institution male/female category, Bhim Awale and Kalpana Subedi stood first.
Likewise, Deepak Desal and Brinda Shrestha became winner under school boys/girls category while Tulsi Baskota won differently abled category.
The bank said the event would promote the sports and would also contribute for the conservation of national heritage. The sum was raised from voluntarily donated amounts by various organizations and individuals.
According to chairperson of the NIBL, Prithbi Bhahadur Pande, the Marathon was the part of social responsibility stating that the bank collected total Rs. 5 million including the amount to be provided by World Monuments Fund, USA.
