Crossing the 700 marks for the first time in its 13-year-long existance, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index on Sunday set another historic record of 702.73 points.

The Nepse closed at 702.73 points, ragistering a growth by 9.50 points from last week's closing points 693.23, with shares of commercial banks and hydropower companies gaining.

Analysts attributed the rise to a continuous rise in share prices of commercial banks led by Standard Chartered Bank, Nabil Bank and Himalayan Bank.

The bullish trend had shown signs of slowdown during last week's trading, but the market bounced back on Sunday.
