The locals in Basantapur area on Monday continued their protests over the Indrajatra funds slashing issue for the fourth day on a row.
The irate protestors, who resumed staging demonstration on Monday, said that the agreement reached between the government and the agitating side the previous day is unacceptable.
The protestors said that the 10-point agreement reached on Sunday does not address their demands. They staged demonstration and obstructed the vehicular movement in the Basantapur Durbar Square, Teku and neighbouring areas.
The protesters said that they were not involved in the negotiation process with the government.
Reports said that the protestors vandalised a few vehicles in New Road, Ason and Jamal area. The twos side of the community has also agreed to sit for talk to end the dispute.
On Sunday, the agitating community and the government had reached a 10-point agreement to end the protest against the government decision to stop providing funds for animal sacrifice during traditional festivals. The Newar community had taken to street accusing the government of interfering with their culture and tradition.
Meanwhile, the programme of President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, who was scheduled to receive Tika from Kumari, also cancelled his visit to the Kumari on Monday due to the tensed situation in the areas.
