Eight new ministers from the CPN - Maoists and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) Friday evening took the oath of office and secrecy amidst a function at the Presidential residence in Sital Niwas.

Prime Minister Puspa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' administered the oath of office and secrecy to the ministers in presence of President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav.

Four new ministers from the CPN-Maoist include Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai ( Finane Ministry ), Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal' (Defense Ministry), Dev Gurung (Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affair) and Krishna Bahadur Mahara (Information and Communication Ministry).

Similarly, four new ministers from the MJF include party chairman Upendra Yadav (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Bijay Kumar Gachhadar (Ministry for Physical Planning and Works), Jay Prakash Prasad Gupta (Agriculture and Cooperative Ministry) and Renu Yadav (Education Ministry).

On the occasion, Chief Justice Kedar Prasad Giri, Vice President Parmananda Jha, Constituent Assembly Chairman Subash Chandra Nemwang, heads of constitutional bodies, and chiefs of security organs were present.

Meanwhile, the CPN-UML, which has bagged 6 ministries in power sharing, has decided to stay away from the swearing in ceremony as meeting with the CPN-Maoist and MJF could not resolve the differences over ministerial hierarchy.

CPN-UML had demanded to place its leader Bam Dev Gautam after PM Prachanda in ministerial hierarchy. It has also decided not to join the new government if it does not get the second position over ministerial hierarchy.
