Workers affiliated to Nepal Independent Chemical and Iron Workers Union have padlocked Nepal Hydro and Electric Limited located at the western Nepal's industrial hub Butawal.

They have padlocked the Limited demanding wages increment. A group of workers also chanted slogans against the management of Limited. Union has said they padlocked the office as management was not ready to implement an agreement to increase the wages reached with the workers a month back.

The workers have demanded resignation of the management employees and implementation of the agreement reached earlier  with them among other. "We will intensify the protest if the demands are not met at the earliest", said union president Dil Bahadur Kshetry. However, the management employees have said they had no authority to increase the wages. Around three hundreds workers are working in the company.
